At the end of 2014, a reporter for the New York Post announced that she was making 300 sandwiches in an attempt to win an engagement ring from her live-in chef boyfriend -- and blogging about the experience. This immediately struck a nerve with Stacey, a self-proclaimed feminist and equal opportunity sandwich maker, as it did with many other women (and men) who stumbled upon this bizarre and antiquated mission. In response, Stacey was inspired to try to win an engagement ring for herself in a way that felt more relevant to her fast-paced life as a modern woman in NYC. Hence, the birth of her quick-fire Tumblr entitled, Ordering 300 Sandwiches, in which she attempts to "win a man's heart while expending as little effort as possible."
Labeled by The Huffington Post as "the kind of romance we can get behind," the blog garnered much positive attention, bringing in 20,000 unique visitors and over 30,000 page views in a single week in addition to attracting 3,500 Tumblr followers.
Stacey's lazy journey to potential matrimony via 300 ordered sandwiches begins with a decidedly lackluster breakfast sandwich:
Her subsequent efforts include everything from opening a bag from Pepperidge Farm:
To instructing her boyfriend to order the goddamned sandwich himself:
Though she has since retired from her sandwich-ordering responsibilities, as she told The Huffington Post, Stacey has hopes for a future in which her relationship will be rooted in equality and a shared interest in ordering in.
"If I get married one day, I hope the union is based on compatibility and the concurrent desire of me and my partner to build a life together," Brook said. "It's either going to be that, or good, old-fashioned blackmail."
